Almost nobody in this industry publishes prices, which makes researching a Patagonia fly fishing trip cost more work than it should be. We run a small lodge on the Carrileufú in Argentine Patagonia, and we would rather you plan with real numbers. Here is what a week down here actually costs, including the parts lodges usually leave out. For reference, a full week at La Pilarica comes in under the typical ranges covered below.

The short answer
For a full week at an all-inclusive fly fishing lodge in Argentine Patagonia, most anglers end up spending somewhere between $7,500 and $12,000 all-in, including flights. Premium operations and hosted trips push the total to $12,000 to $14,500 per angler. These are market ranges from across the region, not our rate card; our own rates we quote directly when you ask.
One thing the totals hide: at most lodges that price covers essentially everything for seven days. Once you land in Patagonia, your wallet mostly stays in your bag.
What the lodge package covers
At most serious lodges, ours included, the weekly rate is genuinely all-inclusive:
- Your room for the week
- Every meal, and in Argentina that means proper meals, with wine
- Guided fishing every day
- Boats, shuttles, and transport to the water
- Transfers from the regional airport
Your fishing license is included at La Pilarica, and some other lodges include it too. Always check. Park entry fees for days fished inside Los Alerces National Park are covered here as well.
What is usually not included:
- Flights
- Gratuities for guides and staff
Waders and boots are yours to bring. Rods are often available on request. The biggest operations tend to include everything.
When you compare lodges, compare on this basis. A cheaper headline rate that excludes transfers, drinks, or guiding is not cheaper.
Flights
From North America, plan on $1,000 to $1,500 for the international round trip to Buenos Aires in economy, plus $200 to $400 for the domestic round trip south. For our valley you fly into Esquel or Bariloche, and we handle the transfer from there. Most guests overnight in Buenos Aires on the way down, which adds a hotel night but turns the travel into two easy days instead of one brutal one.
The small stuff
Fishing permit. Argentina requires a Patagonian fishing permit. At La Pilarica it is included in the week, and we arrange it for you. If you are comparing other lodges, ask whether the permit is covered or billed separately.
Park entry. Days fished inside Los Alerces National Park carry an entry fee. At La Pilarica that is covered. Elsewhere, check whether it is included or paid in cash on the day.
Gratuities. Standard in the industry is roughly 10 to 15 percent of your package, split between guides and lodge staff. Budget it from the start. The guides earn it.
Gear. If you own trout gear, bring it. A 5 or 6 weight covers most of our water. If you do not, ask the lodge what they provide before buying anything.
When it costs less
Two honest ways to bring the number down:
Shoulder weeks. November, early December, and April are quieter and sometimes priced lower across the region, and the fishing is genuinely good. Spring brings aggressive post-winter fish and the first big hatches. Autumn brings the big browns moving out of the lakes. The peak-season premium buys warmer weather, not necessarily better fishing.
Non-anglers travel cheaper. Most lodges, ours included, offer a lower rate for a partner who wants the Patagonia part without the fishing part. In our valley that means horseback riding, Los Alerces National Park, and long lunches.

For one angler from the US, sharing a room and guide, mid-range week:
International flights: $1,000 to $1,500
Domestic flights: $200 to $400
Buenos Aires overnight: $150 to $300
Lodge week, all-inclusive: $5,500 to $8,500
Permit, park entry: Varies by lodge; included at La Pilarica
Gratuities: 10 to 15% of package
Total: Roughly $7,500 to $12,000
What a week at La Pilarica costs
We set our rates once a season and quote them directly, because every week is arranged around your dates and your group. We are a five-room lodge, ten rods at most, on the banks of the Carrileufú near Los Alerces National Park.
